LG Optimus 7Q Review

LG has never stopped providing innovation in new products and staying up to date with the latest in technology. This has also been the case with their latest smartphone, the LG Optimus 7. To provide users with an extra choice, LG also launched a phone which is a modified version of the Optimus 7, but with a slide-out QWERTY Keypad. This is the LG Optimus 7Q, and has been targeted towards users who prefer a physical keypad.

In terms of design, it is almost the same as that of the Optimus 7, with the main difference being the slide-out QWERTY keyboard and an overall smaller display. Even still, the 3.5 inch TFT Touchscreen does well to provide a pretty average resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. The colours also appear quite vibrant, thanks to the 16 M colour display.

Multimedia features are no different from the Optimus 7. There’s a 5 Mega Pixel Camera with Autofocus and is accompanied by a LED Flash. Video Recording is also supported at 720p HD.

Like the Optimus 7, the LG Optimus 7Q also runs the Microsoft’s new Windows Phone 7 Operating System. It features a new User Interface and supports integration of Xbox Live. There is also support for Office Apps, and Social Networking services.

Besides all this, LG has included its DLNA-based Play To application, voice-to-text support on the phone and its ScanSearch augmented reality software.

Like all WP7 handsets released so far, the Optimus 7Q lacks a microSD card slot for extra memory and users will have to suffice with the inbuilt 16 GB internal memory.

Connectivity features on the phone are pretty decent with Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, GPS and 3G(HSDPA/HSUPA).

Like the Optimus 7, the Optimus 7Q will also have a standard Li-Ion 1500 mAh Battery. Hence the battery life should not differ much between the two models.

The smartphone market is being rapidly flooded with Window Phone 7 devices as many manufacturers have embraced the release of the operating system. Unlike the other Windows Phone 7 devices, the LG Optimus 7Q is much more affordable, hence it looks to be more successful in the market, especially considering the many phone deals that are on offer.
